A Day in My Life. Welcome to the Crazy.
So. Today was definitely one of those days. One of those crazy-busy, don't stop until the clock stops days. If someone asked me what I did all day, they would get a long story....Well... I woke up at about 4:30 am to say goodbye to Derrick, at which point the dog (Cozi) also woke up and when he left, was crying by my beside...crying to play...go outside... whatever... Managed to get a little more sleep on and off for the next 4 hours, That was good, sleep is good. Then I woke up for real at about 8:30 and looked over to see our oldest daughter (4) Summer snoozin on daddy's pillow...so I creeeped out of bed real slowly to take a shower. After a shower I managed to put on some clean pajamas and wrap my hair in a towel, (all while the baby (15 mos) Birdie, was crying in her crib to have a bottle, and our son (2.5) Andy was grunting and sorta squealing having some kind of waking-up night-mare. I sneaked out of the bedroom (summer still sleeping) and got a bottle of milk ready for Birdie and then went to get her, changed her diaper, snuggled her for 5.6 seconds and layed her on the couch with her bottle, at this point I am starving....(I'm 8 weeks pregnant). but....before I can make food, I let our dog in who is crying at the door, I let her in and quickly realize her paws are super muddy from digging and she gets mud all over the kitchen.... I get her back outside and rinse off her paws and bring her in and dry them, clean up the floor, at this point I am so hungry...its getting ridiculous...I make some scrambled eggs, as I'm putting them in a bowl, Andy peeks around the corner of the kitchen and says "hiiii!" with a big grin.. "You silly boy.." I say, and get him some cheerios and milk before he does his typical jump-up-and-down-while-screaming-"I want some cheerios!"-routine. get him settled in on the couch and turn on some cartoons, run back to the kitchen and get my bowl of scrambled eggs, and some juice, sit down and scarf as fast as I can...and now Birdie is stealing cheerios from Andy, and now Andy is throwing a fit, at which point Summer comes in the living room and wants to snuggle me on the couch...and now she wants breakfast too, I get her some cheerios and milk, get up and stop the fight between Andy and Birdie, get Andy out of his diaper(he just wears em at night) and into some clean underwear and clothes for the day, Go get some clothes for Summer and help her get dressed... I don't even attempt to brush her super long thick curly hair...it's gorgeous anyways...and that would take ten years. so I just leave it alone. I get back in the bathroom, and manage to brush my hair and wrap it up in a bun, and throw on a little makeup (this is so I feel like I'm still a person :) ) Then I attempt to start folding some towels in my bedroom, all while the kids are coming in and out of my room with random toys, and climbing all over Derrick's back-stretcher, then I realize Birdie is now wanting cheerios, so I take her back in the kitchen and put her in the high chair and do some dishes. ...supervised Summer and Andy coloring together (and coloring on my counter-top) organized a meal train for a friend who just had a baby, fed the kids lunch, started dinner in the crock-pot, did online pre-school with Summer, picked up all the toys in the living room, spanked the dog for destroying Andy's rocking horse by chewing up the wooden rocking part, picked up 32...yes 32 piles of dog poop in the backyard, came inside to find Birdie playing in the dog water...washed her off... folded some more laundry... made my bed, made a "second lunch" for "I'm soooo hungry" Andy, helped Summer clean her room, put the baby to bed, had the big kids go potty, put Summer to bed, put Andy to bed.... Cleaned both bathrooms, in the middle of the second bathroom I hear a noise in the girls' room, Summer is out of bed playing with something and says "Im not tired" in a louder-that-what-I-prefer-tone-considering-Birdie-is-still-sleeping-in-the-same-room...I say "get back in bed and just rest" Finish the bathrooms, take out the trash, get some more laundry done, Summer comes out and this time she is really not falling asleep (good one). then I can't even remember what is happening.... all the kids wake up it seems like at the same time...they start playing loudly with toys and pushing cars and dumptrucks back and forth in the kitchen...where I am cooking...my husband calls and is going to be late, not good news because I am bringing dinner to my friend at 5:30. I start finishing up the dinner I am bringing , and throw all the kids in the car.. before I leave I shut all the doors and make sure all the toys are picked up because, my dog will eat them if they are left on the floor. :) bring my friend dinner, stay for a little chat while the kids are watching The Lion King in the car... I forget they are with me, then remember, so I say goodbye and drive home, now I am making our dinner and the kids want to watch a movie, Summer wants Nemo, Andy wants Cars. I flip a coin, Andy wins, Summer Screams and runs to her room, crying. Birdie gets into Summer's big rain boots with my help, and walks around the house smiling... it is the cutest thing ever. Derrick gets home and sees Birdie and picks her up, she looooves Daddy. Now Summer is in the hallway crying, Derrick talks to her. Summer comes and apologizes to me. Now I get dinner ready and we all sit down to eat. and ohhh... the spaghetti is messy. Cozi (our dog) cleans up some of it. I get Birdie out and give her a bath...because ALL the kids are due for a bath. get her out clean her ears, put on lotion, brush her hair, get on jammies, come out and relax with Derrick for a little bit while the kids are sloooowly finishing their dinner. Get Summer, give her a bath...Andy wants one too, he gets in, bathe both kids who are splashing water all over the freshly cleaned bathroom... get em out, Ears...Lotion...Jammies, brush that long curly hair of Summer's. Now she wants to go in the bathroom and look in the mirror and brush it too. :) Derrick calls the home-group leader ( group in which he co-leads) discusses group for tomorrow, I am checking craigslist for a minivan. We need one. we drive a kia...only 3 car seats fit in those. we need something to fit 4 car seats he gets off the phone, it's nearly 9:00 pm. "ohh... i need to vacuum! I say... I have to vacuum!" Derricks says to do it tomorrow, but I said "No it's a choking hazard . referring to the 300 shards of wood on Andy's floor, from Cozi chewing up the rocking horse. I vacuum Andy's room....why stop there? the house hasn't been vacuumed for weeks. I vacuum the whole house while Derrick gets all the energy out of the kids by running around the house, wrestling, screaming and generally acting like wild banchies. Now I'm super tired. Derrick has to get in bed now, he wakes up at 4:30 you know... "Oh! the bed doesn't have sheets!" I say.... and we put new sheets on the bed, I'm washing the old ones. he gets to bed, I say goodnight and come back to the kitchen to find dog food and water all over, Birdie is playing with it. My favorite. wash her up, start sweeping and mopping the mess, end up sweeping and mopping almost the whole kitchen. get Birdie to bed, big kids go potty, brush their teeth, sneak into Summer and Birdie's room and put new sheets and blankets on Summer's bed. Put new sheets and blankets on Andy's bed, kid's get in Andy's bed, read em a story. Kiss Andy goodnight, put Summer in her bed, kiss her goodnight. come back out to the kitchen, do the dishes....start thinking of all the things I did today, and decide to write a blog post. While writing the blog post, Andy starts screaming in his bed, I go to see what is wrong and he needs to go potty. So proud of him for waking up to go, he gets out of bed, goes potty, gets back in bed and is asleep as soon as he hits the pillow. Continuing writing blog post, Summer starts screaming gibberish, go in to find her delirious. She didn't nap today, so she is overly tired and this always happens. I calm her down and she falls back asleep. Finish my blog post. And as I do, realize now that I have 2 loads of laundry to fold.

Mama says... they'll be days like this. :-D
ReplyDeleteCute post. It's days like this when the hubby comes home and asks, "So, what did you do today?" The only logical answer is "Everything~!"
Yes, everything! but he knows not to ask that question! lol
DeleteHa!! And if you're anything like me you stumbled over something you started but were interrupted while doing at least a couple times during all that as well! (Bag of trash, cup of coffee you forgot about, etc) :) Good job, Mama!! And the funny thing is we wouldn't trade this (crazy) job for anything ;)
